J'avoue que je ne vais pas souvent faire les courses au supermarché (...) Donc ce n'est peut-être pas nouveau mais ça l'était pour moi ^_^ Absolument personne n'a vérifié si l'on payait bien tous nos achats (à  part peut-être un gars derrière un écran de contrôle), haute dose de confiance en tout cas!



Y-a-t-il un système similaire mis en place par chez vous?

These are common in the US. The conveyor belts are actually scales, and the item you scan has to match the weight it has for it in the database. That's one way they keep and eye on what you buy.

We also have these nifty hand scanners. Walk in, grab a scanner, scan and bag your groceries as you walk around the store (LOVE IT, Best invention EVER). Get to checkout and scan a bar code there as well. Pay at the self checkout kiosk. Every once and a while you are audited to make sure you are buying what you have scanned, they scan 5 random items and if they are on the scanner they trust you are legit.

Yes...that's actually the exact same system we have in all our grocery stores, except ours speaks English and Spanish. No one ever checks ours either, most people just pay for it all cus they're honest.

Thanks for the insights. So it seems to become the trend. One more job taken from the human to the robot!
Well for now, in Japan it is still more usual to see 2 employees : one to register and one to help you to put your groceries in bags ... Not sure that this model will remain long though.

common in uk supermarkets too... seen as a cost cutting thing.
although i not sure which is more ( read less) polite.... the machine or the grunting cashier who usually could give hoot to even say hello, let alone thankyou etc.

oh the security thing... the machines have weighing scales ( that dont always work!) that complain if you dont put your scanned goods or not scanned goods in the shopping bag... hence they can check if you have scanned everything.

There is also usually a shop assistant manning a control pc that monitors all the self service desks... their second job is to come running over when one of the machines usulaly complains or gets confused.

Personnly for a alot of shopping (there are bigger versions of these machines too)... ie more than one bag i find the manned check outs alot quicker as you (in the uk) can pack the bags while the shop assistant scans.

Those are in all walmarts in the US, all Tescos in the UK and all Carrefour in France and China. You have been living too close to a computer screen recently. I'm glad Sayoko brought you out for a shopping adventure. You have become a real geek.!
If you do a quick search on google with the key words "wheel+europe" you'll discover an amazing invention we use here. It might come as a shock to you but don't be scared, it's been tested before use.

In Spain you can only find them in Carrefour, I was also very shocked when I saw them in Wal Mart when I went to the USA, I was all "wow, they're years ahead of us!!!!! hahahah, and then I come back home and see them in Carrefour, I'm like WTF?, same'll happen to you I guess. ^^,

Our government speaks of creating jobs. But, at this present time they allow the building of these factories, which is good, but at the same times these machines are being sit in our place, taking our sales rep and cashier jobs. I think we need an eye opener, and they called people like this afro-american a NIGGER.

COURS DE SHAMISEN

Apprendre à jouer du  Shamisen était quelque chose que je voulais faire avant-meme de vivre au Japon. Bon, ça m'a pris du temps avant de me lancer mais voilà j'ai suivi enfin mon premier cours.Je suis déjà guitariste (bon enfin comme tout le monde disons~) et ai toujours été intéressé par les instruments à cordes. TODOROKI KEIKOKU, UN OASIS DANS TOKYO

A la recherche de verdure a Tokyo ? Bon ce n'est pas très difficile en réalité. nombreux sont les parcs et même avec un peu de train nous sommes vite dans les montagnes! Par exemple Takao San se trouve à 1h seulement de Shinjuku. Je ne vous dit pas si vous prenez un Shinkansen. (ce n'est alors plus un problème de distance ou temps mais plus d'argent…).Aujourd'hui cependant je vous emmène tout près du centre de Tokyo (disons le centre "ouest").
