FIXIES IN THE NIGHT OF TOKYO

Fixies in the Night - Tokyo

No it's not Christmas, but here is the second post of the day!

Fixies in the Night - Tokyo

I recently enjoyed some night walks in the streets of Tokyo.

Fixies in the Night - Tokyo

I go to different neighborhoods but anywhere I go I notice some nice fixed gear bicycles or single speed ones.

Hey! I am a long time fixed rider. I just recently discovered your blog and totally love it. I am an international business/Japanese major. I am studying at Waseda (not this coming Fall but...)next Fall. I'm really excited about getting a fixed in Japan. Thanks for this blog! feel free to e-mail me and chat about the differences between American-fixed-culture and Japan-fixed-culture.

from Chicago ILL ,NOTHING!!

Hey what's up with the yellow and pink bike on picture 6 and 7 that's a crappy lock. Unfortunately if that was Chicago or any other big city that bike would not last the night. I guess there isn't much bike theft in Japan.

Thanks for the comments.

@kuroshirohaiiro : don't hesitate to contact me when you'll be in Tokyo!

@LoneCub : yep, I think Japan must be one of the safest country in the world. At one point that I often forget to lock my bike and I use also a crappy lock... That said, some unlucky guys have had their bike stolen.

I'm a newcomer in the world of pignon fixe. I'm still learning and Tokyo is the perfect place to learn!
I've never seen so many wonderful bikes like in this city.
Btw, thanks for your great blog.

Ciao!

Hey, I guess you can see some wonderful bikes in Italia also, with all the great frame makers and Campagnolo! (vintage ones cost the bomb here..)

Ciao!
Yes, in Italy we have many good bikes, but still, in Japan le pignon fixe is even more popular, or fashionable!
And yes vintage bikes are too expensive in Japan! In Italy they are still affordable and you can get old frames for very cheap prices. Next time I go to Italy I'll maybe buy an old frame: I could start a business!

Salut NoX,

he bien...merci!

By NoX At 2009-09-03 09:49:55

dekochari ^_^

By H At 2009-09-28 05:57:15

Kress : sorry I did not answer before... well if you check the other articles you'll find information about different shops. If you can read Japanese yahoo auctions can be interesting. and in about 3 weeks the bike flea market of Sekidobashi will take place.

H : I think you are my first troll, welcome ^_^.
