JOGGING IN YOKOHAMA (0)

Despite of the cold, winter is a good season for training, it's much more comfortable than summer with its heat combined with humidity.

So this time I propose you, not a photo-walk but a photo-jog!

Mizuno

Mizuno my favorite running shoes lately.

fuji san

100m from home, the little white part in the back is the Fuji San, only visible during winter from this point.

Sunday Jogging in Yokohama

Even if Yokohama is a huge city, still we can find some green. We are lucky enough to have a park 10mn from home.

Steps, very good for training!

Golf practice. Did not know that golf was so popular in Japan before I came to live here. It's really a national sport.

Minato Mirai in Yokohama

Reaching Minato Mirai, feel often attracted by the sea when I am jogging.

On the left, the Landmark tower, almost as high as the Eiffel Tower. About 300m.

And one of the biggest wheel in the world (I've been told...)

Drydock Yokohama

Old drydock , just at the bottom of the landmark tower.
Now it's a place of restaurants.

Minato Mirai from Osanbashi Pier. Yokohama will welcome an international professional triathlon this year, this is where it will take place. It will be the 7th round of 2009 World Championship Series. A big triathlon event for Yokohama ... Only open to kids or pros though, unfortunately I don't belong to none of these categories... Thinking of the date : 22/23th of August, triathletes will have to manage the terrible summer weather... Ganbare!...

Osanbashi Pier

Time to go back home.

Sunday Jogging in Yokohama

Passing by the local stadium, some pupils warming-up for an athletic morning with their teachers. Each one has a proper sport uniform and running shoes, (almost) each one will do its best during the race. I prefer not to compare with France about that...(plus, it's a Sunday morning!).

PS : the photos were taken during 3 different training sessions.

FUJI PROJECT REPORT

Report took almost as much time as the challenge itself but here it is!Saturday the 28th of August I left Yokohama at around 7AM to go to the Fuji San, a 140km ride and then climb the volcano. To make it more fun I rode a fixed gear bike, the Fuji Track Comp courtesy of Fuji bikes Japan.I train myself during 2 months, nothing very intense but enough to be back in shape for this challenge, I haven't done much sports prior to that this year. Here is the route I took with the fixie : from Yokohama t... FUJI PROJECT - TRAINING

Training is going on pretty well. Yes, the heat makes it harder but anyway it will be hot also on d-day. I do running, cycling and even some swimming sessions. Cross training is the best to get back in shape without hurting your body with repetitive routines. With cross training all our muscles got involved one day or an other so one can get in shape in a smoother and less traumatic way.I start to feel better and better. Saturday I took the Fuji Track Comp and rode from Yokohama where I live to... Read more

BICYCLE SHOPS IN YOKOHAMA

It's been a while that I uploaded some bicycle related article here. So time to catch up a little bit. [an other article should follow tomorrow or monday]As I needed to buy some new tubes I visited the Y's Road shop in Yokohama. It was a good occasion to check their fixie corner. As I said in an old post this shop is not specialized in fixed gear bikes but more on road race ones. In this category they have everything you can dream of. As for the fixed gear bikes I was a little bit disappoin... Read more
