日本での日々の生活 - 6 (5)

These photos were taken during August and at the beginning of September, this is a last taste of summer 2009 (right now (1:45 AM) we are in a middle of a typhoon, heavy rain ... worse forecast is expected tomorrow morning just when we go to work...Gambarimasu! ).

I sorted the photos by themes this time :

City :

Everyday Life in Japan

Everyday Life in Japan

Everyday Life in Japan

Shots taken after a day at the office in Shibuya.

Everyday Life in Japan

Time to relax with a beer and yakiniku for the salary men.

Everyday Life in Japan

Sometimes we can find some graffiti in Tokyo (in Yokohama the long wall dedicated to it has been painted white... end of an ere)

Everyday Life in Japan

Messenger!

Everyday Life in Japan

No Skate-boarding!

Everyday Life in Japan

Everyday Life in Japan

Under the bridge, the river ...

Everyday Life in Japan

The iceman truck, there's an ice factory not far from the office. Kanji for ice is æ°· (kooli), and water is æ°´ (mizu), so easy to remember.

Food :

Everyday Life in Japan

Our usual kaiten-sushi in Yokohama : the basic and good maguro (tuna).

Everyday Life in Japan

Kit kat , mango purin taste...

Everyday Life in Japan

Bananas direct from Okinawa, うまい!(umai : gooood)

Everyday Life in Japan

Cake set in Daikanyama with a sand timer for the tea.

Everyday Life in Japan

A good avocado hamburger, typical Japanese food ;)

Everyday Life in Japan

Some Kit kat in vending machine

Everyday Life in Japan

I did not know we had a special curry in France o_O

Everyday Life in Japan

Disney has also its vending machine, spotted in Haneda Airport.

Everyday Life in Japan

Quiet airport on this pic, but it was an other story during the silver week.

Beach Party Time :

Everyday Life in Japan

Everyday Life in Japan

We went to Oiso for a "fishing party".

Everyday Life in Japan

Yoga was also on the menu

As well as eating :)

At Work :

Everyday Life in Japan

Building currently an in-house application to retrieve and display top-secret datas from the Ninja Tools and other services produced by the Samurai Factory.

Lunch time :

Everyday Life in Japan

Everyday Life in Japan

I like to go out for lunch and have a walk in the neighborhood. This park is not too far, about 10mn, I like to rest for a little while there.

Everyday Life in Japan

It is nice to find some green in the heart of the city.

Random stuff :

Everyday Life in Japan

The Olympus-pen has good press everywhere. I have to say it is really nice, I especially like its vintage style.

Everyday Life in Japan

Lego sold in a conbini (convenience store) ! I almost compulsively bought a box as I was a hardcore Lego player as a kid.

Everyday Life in Japan

I saw this mac box and the week after an "old" flower iMac was at the same place, I guess someone in the neighborhood upgraded nicely!
It was kind of sad to see the flower one in the garbage, it's almost a piece of collection (for a geek I mean...)

And to finish with, Yokohama :

A little bit of China town

Everyday Life in Japan

Everyday Life in Japan

And the Yamate :

Everyday Life in Japan

The old colonial neighborhood.

Everyday Life in Japan

Everyday Life in Japan

Very peaceful area.

Everyday Life in Japan

They have a nice Olympic outdoor pool over there, I promised myself to swim in it and then completely forgot about it; and now of course they closed it until next summer...

Thanks, typhoon has past. Now there is a clear blue sky over Tokyo. I managed to be only one hour late using a local train instead of my usual Shonan Shinjuku line which was stopped for all the morning...

I love your posts about Japan. 3 years back I got a chance to visit Toyotashi, and to work for Toyota. Those 45 days were amazing:)
I hope I will get another chance to visit Japan.
Enjoy...
Take care...
Prasanna

Thank you Prasanna. I hope your wish will become real, in French we say : "one who wants, can" [well something like this]. As for me I hope to visit India one day, it would be a real cultural shock I am sure!

日本での日々の生活 - 9 - 日本の夏

Well it is more about *my* Japanese summer...How's your summer? Here it's probably my hottest summer since I've been living in Japan. It 's the first year the lack of AC is bit of a problem at home.I am still working at UltraSuperNew for some Red Bull projects and an other website for an Ayurveda clinic in Tokyo. We already released the keitai site for Red Bull Japan. Keitai meaning "mobile", this website runs only on traditional Japanese handset. For iPhone and Android, things will come a bit la... 続きを見る

三味線 - 1

How to play  Shamisen was something I wanted to learn even before I start to live in Japan. Well, it actually took some time, but today I had my first lesson! Yeah !!I am a guitar player (well, I mean like everyone~) and always had interest in strings instruments. When I visited Istanbul in 2004 I bought a baglama (pronounced balama) and had fun with it at home even if I never properly learned how to play it :-) A friend also offered me a valiha (pronounced "valee" if I remember well) from... 続きを見る

等々力渓谷

Looking for green in Tokyo ? Not difficult actually, there are many parcs and even with a bit of train you are quickly in the mountains. For example Takao San is about 1h from Shinjuku... I don't even mention if you take the Shinkansen... (then it is not even a question of time and distance but more of money...)Today I bring you to Todorokikeikoku just near Tokyo West part. It is just one stop after Jiyugaoka (on the  Oimachi line) which is also on the Tokyu - Toyoko line that starts from S... 続きを見る

日本での日々の生活 - 8

I just realized that the last episode of "Everyday Life in Japan" was as far as December! As Homer Simpson would say : "D'oh!" Yep, time is flying!!So it is much time for my random mix of snapshots in Tokyo and around. Most were taken with the Nikon D5000, and the bad looking ones were taken with the iPhone 3G.This lion is at the entrance of an old imperial building now used as an exhibition place.Just near in a café after the visit, I "stole" this shot of these 2 ladies in kimono. I  wonder... 続きを見る
