夜の横浜 (12)

I planned this for a long time and finally did it. A photo-bike-walk in the night of Yokohama. It turns out I took a lot of photos.

Yokohama by Night

The goal was to go from Minato-mirai to Chinatown. These pics were all taken in full manual mode without any tripod.

Yokohama by Night

When I found something I can put the camera on I use it, else this is just the "take-a-big-breath-and-try-to-not-move" technique, which is difficult when the exposition time is close to 2 seconds...

Yokohama by Night

Anyway I did my best :) [Above : Even a parking can look good at night!]

Yokohama by Night

This is Akalenga (or maybe Akarenga ...) one of the main attraction here, I already introduced it in an older article.

This place was still in construction early in the year, once again they did a great job.

Yokohama by Night

The weather was really cloudy, so optimum for the photos... But the temperature is really cool now, autumn is coming, it's my favorite season in Japan (once the typhoon are away).

Below, the same place taken an other day, slightly earlier, some buildings were still enlighten.

As I was alone, I did not have any cute model to photograph, so... here is my bicycle ^_^

I recently bought the same brake lever (but a black one) for a Frenchy, I have to send it to him now...

(I hope you are patient man!;)

Ok I can see you are doing an over-dose of bicycle photos (but for me it was fun to try different settings on the camera), so let's go back to our main subject.

Minato mirai over and over again :)

By the way, if you did not notice it, all these photos are click-able! (it's not the case in my previous articles but it will be from now).

Yokohama by Night

So if you do so, you can see them in a bigger size.

Yokohama by Night

I am almost considering to change my articles template to display directly the big ones, but I am not sure ... It might take time to load, especially in such an article with more than 50 photos...

Now we are on the ÅŒsanbashi pier.

Which offers an other great view on Minato Mirai.

Looking at this photo, I can hear some Black Sabbath music!

That's it! A sea-side walk/ride between Minato-Mirai and Yamashita Koen which is is probably the most popular walk in Yokohama. I hope you enjoyed.

Thanks !

Billy ; you can find the lever at Sexon Pista (they have chrome ones in stock, I went last week) or at Blue Lug (they had some colored ones about 3 weeks ago). It's the perfect lever if you use only one brake (front one is better on fixie) : can be used by both hands.

Protocol Snow : yes it is. Nikon D5000. I am happy with it. (But video mode is difficult to use if you don't have very good lenses [like me] and the sound is crap) . But for photo it's really great. Now I want a new lens though ^_^

Nice :)
I wish I was less lazy and going more often shoot my neighborhood... MM is 5 minutes from my place.
Maybe a tripod would be a good investment for you :).

Hello Alban,

Indeed you should go! Move your a$$ lazy Frenchy and go out and take us some good shots! :) Besides, I am sure you know interesting places.

As for the tripod, yeah, it is certainly a useful tool to shoot but to carry and set-up each time :/ ... Do you use one? or tried some? Anyway, I still have a lot to learn before I 'd need it I think...For now I am just scratching the surface of what we can do with a DSLR.

Great pictures. I especially like the blues that you captured. My camera wouldn't even come close to capturing night shots like that. Beautiful!

日本での日々の生活 - 9 - 日本の夏

Well it is more about *my* Japanese summer...How's your summer? Here it's probably my hottest summer since I've been living in Japan. It 's the first year the lack of AC is bit of a problem at home.I am still working at UltraSuperNew for some Red Bull projects and an other website for an Ayurveda clinic in Tokyo. We already released the keitai site for Red Bull Japan. Keitai meaning "mobile", this website runs only on traditional Japanese handset. For iPhone and Android, things will come a bit la... 続きを見る

三味線 - 1

How to play  Shamisen was something I wanted to learn even before I start to live in Japan. Well, it actually took some time, but today I had my first lesson! Yeah !!I am a guitar player (well, I mean like everyone~) and always had interest in strings instruments. When I visited Istanbul in 2004 I bought a baglama (pronounced balama) and had fun with it at home even if I never properly learned how to play it :-) A friend also offered me a valiha (pronounced "valee" if I remember well) from... 続きを見る

等々力渓谷

Looking for green in Tokyo ? Not difficult actually, there are many parcs and even with a bit of train you are quickly in the mountains. For example Takao San is about 1h from Shinjuku... I don't even mention if you take the Shinkansen... (then it is not even a question of time and distance but more of money...)Today I bring you to Todorokikeikoku just near Tokyo West part. It is just one stop after Jiyugaoka (on the  Oimachi line) which is also on the Tokyu - Toyoko line that starts from S... 続きを見る

日本での日々の生活 - 8

I just realized that the last episode of "Everyday Life in Japan" was as far as December! As Homer Simpson would say : "D'oh!" Yep, time is flying!!So it is much time for my random mix of snapshots in Tokyo and around. Most were taken with the Nikon D5000, and the bad looking ones were taken with the iPhone 3G.This lion is at the entrance of an old imperial building now used as an exhibition place.Just near in a café after the visit, I "stole" this shot of these 2 ladies in kimono. I  wonder... 続きを見る
