Second day, the purpose was to learn about the web in Vietnam from 2 companies and a visit to the University of Technology.

But first I can't resist to show few shots of street life!

We first visited the office of an outsourcing company (I hope I won't lose my job o_O). I am not sure I can tell its name so I'll ask confirmation tomorrow...
And then we visited the biggest portal site in Vietnam : Zing.vn produced by a company called VinaGame. The web is exploding over there with a 18% growth for each year (which is normal coming from nothing...).

The Cie's goal is 41 Millions users in 2014. They have lots of services on Zing portal and they also produce popular on line games. On the wall of the conference room is written their key phrases.

Japan is a main partner for Vietnam, so not surprising to find Honda as a sponsor here.

Cool student project : let's make an iPhone!

In the IT department, each student has its own PC (mainly notebooks and in a 25 students class, only one lucky guy had a mac).

Waiting for class, they study outside.

An other project, this one is a portable Karaoke!

Ho Chi Minh City - Saigon - Part 2

They have really cool projects... When I was in Le Havre University we used to program in Pascal or Fortran 77 on Goupil or Bull machine (whatever it was...French stuff...).
I remember the project was a "game" called the "8 queens". As it was every year the same project, students tended to copy what the others did the previous year...
It was around 1995, I think. At that time, I received my first e-mail address and the main search engine was Altavista...

Ho Chi Minh City - Saigon - Part 2

Yep it was rainy. Let's share the rain coat :)

After the uni we did a brief stop at a game center where teenagers played in an incredible noise, mix of different games sounds...

Games like these - produced by VinaGame actually. Then it was time for dinner : some kind of Yakiniku (焼き肉:grilled meat)! (Japanese stuff but the Vietnamese way... good!)

Ho Chi Minh City - Saigon - Part 2

Of course we couldn't miss to drink the local beers :
