What is the Tokyo CGM Night?

CGM Night poster

No, it's not the Compagnie Générale Maritime Night...

But the Consumer Generated Media Night organized by Danny Choo and Andrew Shuttleworth, you can read more about it here : CGM Night official page but also on my previous articles : CGM Night #2, CGM Night #3 (it is a monthly event).

Ok, most of bloggers already published their articles now on this fourth night (damn they're fast!), so no way to write something fresh 2 days after the event...

Anyway, to sum-up : once again it was fun. The Tokyo CGM night is definitely now a good place for companies to introduce their new geeky products or web services to the Japanese market. Besides, I think this time the proportion between gaijin and locals was more balanced, it's all good.

The products of the night :

Eye-fi and Jib TV (and the Poken people were there also).

Eye-fi

Eye-Fi lets you upload from your camera, photos and videos directly through open wi-fi spot to your computer or online services : a real cool gadget for bloggers!

This lucky cow-boy won one Eye-fi in a massive paper/scissors fight. (Photo by : Ken)

Jib TV : an English language TV channel about Japan news for the rest of the world.

It's an NHK initiative pushed by a French fellow actually, famous Youtuber and writer/comedian Kevin "tokyocooney" is also part of the team. I had a talk with him on the train back home : he hates French people ! na... I am killing. Anyway keep on eye on the channel I am sure they will bring you good stuff from Japan.

As it was taking place during a week day, I could not stay that long but I had some chat with a crazy English man, Joseph from Tamegoeswild. Chris from Nihongo Notes was also here as most of the twitter/blogger gaijin community :)

I also met Ken, well for a first meeting we had to do an arm-wresling fight to win a Obi-wan Kenobi figure... It's the second time I do arm-wrestling at CGM Night, I think it's enough now :)
You can see the end of the fight on this youtube video and the full fight here (if you enjoy skinny geek guys arm-wresling...)

Here is my prize :)

Obi-wan Kenobi

Obi-wan Kenobi from the Clone Wars anime made by Kotobukiya. I will put it on my desk at work I guess.

By the way Ken helped Danny to design the poster, and just released an iPhone App.

That's about it, good photographers were there, for example here are some shots of the evening by iMorpheus :
