This is already my third time at the SekidoBashi flea market and second time for the autumn's one. Nice weather but a bit too much cloudy, not the best conditions for photography.

Anyway once again it was great to see the parts and bicycles presented for sale (or not) to the 自転車オタク (Jitensha Otaku = the Bicycles Otaku).

I had the great pleasure to finally meet Tomity San, ambassador of Keirin!

We exchanged some mails before and messages through the comments of the blog but it was the first time we met.

Tomity San has really a big heart! Always keen to share his knowledge and giving presents. Tomity San is still racing, of course always on a Kalavinka frame mounted with a 48x13 ratio (I asked him to write that, it is no tactical secret :) he used to have a bigger ratio... but hey he is in his 50's!! I hope I'll able to visit Kalavinka's atelier with him... [You can check the video he did from Tanabe San building a frame]

This is a cog from a world champion that he gilded!

He was also selling some of his parts :

I already took the pictures of anime bike last time, but it seems to become a small trend, interesting mix of 2 cultures![a cycling version of the Itasha]

This is it for the first article. I'll try to upload the 3 other articles during the week.

FUJI PROJECT REPORT

Report took almost as much time as the challenge itself but here it is!Saturday the 28th of August I left Yokohama at around 7AM to go to the Fuji San, a 140km ride and then climb the volcano. To make it more fun I rode a fixed gear bike, the Fuji Track Comp courtesy of Fuji bikes Japan.I train myself during 2 months, nothing very intense but enough to be back in shape for this challenge, I haven't done much sports prior to that this year. Here is the route I took with the fixie : from Yokohama t... FUJI PROJECT - TRAINING

Training is going on pretty well. Yes, the heat makes it harder but anyway it will be hot also on d-day. I do running, cycling and even some swimming sessions. Cross training is the best to get back in shape without hurting your body with repetitive routines. With cross training all our muscles got involved one day or an other so one can get in shape in a smoother and less traumatic way.I start to feel better and better. Saturday I took the Fuji Track Comp and rode from Yokohama where I live to... Read more

BICYCLE SHOPS IN YOKOHAMA

It's been a while that I uploaded some bicycle related article here. So time to catch up a little bit. [an other article should follow tomorrow or monday]As I needed to buy some new tubes I visited the Y's Road shop in Yokohama. It was a good occasion to check their fixie corner. As I said in an old post this shop is not specialized in fixed gear bikes but more on road race ones. In this category they have everything you can dream of. As for the fixed gear bikes I was a little bit disappoin... Read more
