CGM NIGHT AT AKIHABARA (3)
I could not attend the last CGM Night organized by Danny and Andrew so it was a while that I met some of my "CGM comrades". This time was a special Dollfie and Cosplay edition. I am pretty sure everyone knows what cosplay is. Dollfie, I am not sure. I am myself not familiar with it, but dollfie is a composition of "doll" and "figure", I guess the photos are quite explicit ;)
It is quite popular in the Otaku world and not only for what I 've understood, more and more people seem to "fall into it".
By the way, the evening took place at Akiba:f an incredible place when you know that it is actually a blood donation center! Probably only possible in Akihabara to find such a center with a design between Star Trek and maybe Flash Gordon :) Not the usual red cross anyway.
In the middle of the room was a 3D pyramidal screen (not the big cylinder, something smaller inside, I don't know how it is called), an amazing thing projecting some animation a bit like R2-D2 in Star Wars, very impressive anyway. I've heard there is only few of this system in Japan (something like less than 10!)

Akiba:f uses Twitter to manage and show the state of their reservation in real time.
Interesting use case of Twitter.
Poken team was here as well with some special editions. Indeed, Danny's mascots got the "poken" treatment !
Then Danny introduced his special guests :
Boss of Good Smile Company : Aki San, figures maker and seller.
A gentleman representing Her Majesty the Queen! [from the British Council, maybe a first for him to be so close of the Otaku world :)]
And our host for the evening, representative of the center. Being based in Akihabara he did not seem surprised by the attendance. Maybe under his salary man suit there is a real Otaku ;)
The CGM Night is nice to meet comrades like the Live Bloggers team for dannychoo.com and new people. But as I said this edition was kind of a special DollFie one... So Dollfie shots again! :
Danny's "girls" !
The CGM Night was streamed live on U-Stream thanks to Steve Nagata (a real geek, he lives in Akihabara).
Steve at control (in red shirt, because we were at a blood donation center ?! :)
The guy in the middle of the screen taking a picture is... me (there was a slight delay on the stream)
Then was the time for the cosplayer to enter the scene, few of them but huge success among the photographers.
By the way, there was so much DSLR in this room that we could have rivaled with a Yodobashi Camera photo corner! :)
Even the cosplayer themselves had DSLR!
By chance, one cosplayer and a dollfie were wearing the same costume, what character is it? [yes, I am quite uncultivated at the matter...]
Less geeky but at least as much important : food!
Danny introduced us to his own branded curry.
Mirai Chan everywhere!
Nope! Geeks and Otakus are not preparing a revolution (for what I know), this a the jan - ken - poi [Aiko desho] contest. Or in other words : paper-scizors time :)
To get back home with some free goodies [books and Dvds this time].
Time for me to go back to Yokohama (about 45 mn). And just at the bottom of the building there was this single speed waiting. Was there an Otaku/Geek rider at the party?
Some shop on the way to the station. Even if we are in Akihabara, I am way too shy to check inside what is it about :)...

http://annuaire-blogs-japon.over-blog.com/
